August 10 — A social media user with the handle @Tutrifour recently shared a video showcasing his modified 1966 Ford Mustang autonomously navigating using Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) system. According to the owner, this may be the first non-Tesla vehicle in the world to successfully implement Tesla's FSD technology.

Radical Transformation

The vibrant red two-door Mustang coupe has undergone a radical transformation, with its original powertrain replaced by Tesla's complete electric drivetrain and autonomous driving hardware. @Tutrifour revealed that extensive calibration work was required to achieve seamless integration. The video demonstrates how Tesla's FSD cameras were strategically mounted on the windshield and front fenders, with their positions meticulously adjusted to ensure optimal system performance. Notably, the classic muscle car now features a Cybertruck-style steering wheel.

Technical Challenges Overcome

"The repeater calibration took considerable time, but today we finally got it right," @Tutrifour commented in the video, highlighting the project's technical complexity. Integrating Tesla's tightly controlled FSD hardware and software into a non-Tesla vehicle presents significant challenges, likely requiring reverse engineering, custom installation solutions, and precise system tuning without Tesla's native integration framework.

Tesla Cybertruck lead engineer Wes Morrill praised the build, responding to @Tutrifour's post: "This is hands down the best conversion I've ever seen. Not only did you successfully integrate the powertrain, but you also achieved full autonomy — and on a beautiful classic car at that. Absolutely incredible!" Additional footage shared by @Tutrifour confirms that Tesla's Summon feature also works flawlessly, with the modified Mustang autonomously exiting a parking space.
