Tesla's Full Self-Driving system to receive a substantial parameter upgrade in next month's update.

Musk doubles down on autonomy and infotainment as Tesla's FSD model parameters increase tenfold, while a revamped vehicle operating system appears in development.

August 11 — Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced FSD v14 will launch in six weeks, describing it as "potentially the most significant update to date."

The new FSD version will not only expand parameters tenfold but also improve handling of rare driving scenarios. Musk noted it will "dramatically reduce" driver attention requirements, though vigilance will remain necessary for complex intersections, extreme weather conditions, or unusual situations.

As the launch approaches, technology analysts have discovered upgraded visualization systems on AMD-powered Model S and Model X vehicles, suggesting enhanced user interface interactivity.

In separate news, Musk explained the decision to halt Dojo supercomputer development, indicating that Dojo 3 may emerge instead as clusters of AI6 chips on integrated motherboards.

01. UI Overhaul: Game-Quality Graphics and Interactive Controls

Beyond FSD improvements, evidence points to a major infotainment upgrade. Tesla researcher @greentheonly uncovered code in the 2025.20 software for AMD-equipped Model S and Model X indicating a transition from Godot to Unreal Engine for Autopilot visualizations.

The update promises richer 3D rendering, with users potentially able to control vehicle avatars directly on-screen. Early mockups suggest gaming-quality graphics, though the feature remains in development and appears to be exclusive to AMD-equipped vehicles for now.

02. Dojo 2 Scrapped: AI6 Clusters to Power "Dojo 3"

Musk confirmed the shutdown of the standalone Dojo project after Bloomberg reported the team's disbandment, including the departure of project lead Peter Bannon. Approximately 20 staff members have since joined AI startup Density.

"Had to make tough calls on Dojo," Musk tweeted, revealing that Dojo 3 will likely take the form of AI6 chip arrays on motherboards. He cited the redundancy in developing two separate AI chips, while praising the training and inference capabilities of the AI5/AI6 platform.

Rivian executive Phil Beisel noted this effectively redirects Tesla's R&D focus entirely to the AI6 platform.

As Tesla transitions from automaker to AI company, it faces significant challenges: H1 2025 revenue fell 11% to $41.8 billion, with automotive sales down 18% ($30.6 billion) amid 13% lower vehicle deliveries.
