On August 11, 2025, BYD officially launched its Seal 06 EV and Seal 06 DM-i models in the Beijing market. Positioned as mid-size SUVs, these vehicles offer pure electric and DM-i plug-in hybrid powertrains, both equipped with the standard "Eye of Providence-C" intelligent driving assist system (triple-camera version). The Seal 06 DM-i is available in three variants priced between $19,300 and $21,600, while the Seal 06 EV comes in three trims ranging from $19,800 to $22,600.

Exterior Design

The exterior adopts BYD's Ocean Series design language with refined details for a more futuristic appeal. The front features a new dual-headlight layout that enhances both youthful dynamism and brand recognition. A closed grille improves aerodynamics, while functional lower air intakes ensure efficient cooling. Side air vents on the bumper further accentuate the sporty character.

The profile showcases muscular proportions with flowing lines and standard 19-inch wheels. Extended silver trim elements create visual depth and layering. The vehicle measures 4,810 x 1,920 x 1,675 mm with a 2,820 mm wheelbase, firmly establishing it within the mid-size SUV segment.

The rear design continues the oceanic theme with waterdrop-inspired full-width taillights and illuminated BYD badging. A dual-tone bumper and roof spoiler complete the athletic aesthetic.

Interior and Technology

Inside, premium soft-touch materials and thoughtful color schemes define the cabin. The flat-bottomed four-spoke steering wheel retains physical controls to minimize operational errors.

Tech highlights include a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen running the advanced Dlink 100 OS, supporting navigation, OTA updates, voice control, and app downloads. The "Eye of Providence-C" system employs 5 millimeter-wave radars, 12 cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors for highway assist and automated parking, with future urban navigation upgrades planned.

Comfort features include 50W wireless charging, a -6°C to 50°C refrigerated console, and ventilated/heated front seats. The generous 2,820 mm wheelbase provides ample rear legroom, while ergonomic seating delivers class-leading comfort and space.

Powertrain and Performance

The Seal 06 EV, built on the e-Platform 3.0 Evo, offers 170-180 kW rear-wheel drive and 290 kW all-wheel drive variants with CLTC ranges of 520-605 km. The DM-i version utilizes BYD's fifth-generation hybrid technology: a 74 kW 1.5L engine paired with a 160 kW motor achieves 0-100 km/h in 7.5-7.8 seconds. Its 18.3-26.6 kWh battery provides 93-130 km WLTC electric range, with hybrid fuel economy as low as 4.6L/100km and total ranges up to 1,670 km.

Both versions feature TSC tire-blowout stabilization and Yun-C damping control. The suspension setups differ: the EV uses front double-ball-joint MacPherson struts and rear five-link suspension, while the DM-i employs MacPherson front and four-link rear configurations.
