European Breakthrough

In Europe's five major markets (UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain), BYD has achieved remarkable growth. Spain saw monthly sales exceed 10,000 units with a staggering 756.1% growth rate, capturing 9.7% market share. Italy recorded over 9,000 registrations — a 140% quarterly increase — with market share exceeding 10%.

American Market Success

In the Americas, BYD has made Brazil its flagship success story. After setting a record with 76,000 annual sales in 2024, the automaker maintained its NEV sales leadership in Brazil during H1 2024 with 47,000 deliveries (up 45% YoY) — more than double the combined sales of the 2nd through 10th place automakers.

Asia-Pacific Competition

Across Asia-Pacific, BYD is challenging established Japanese brands. In Thailand, it secured dual titles as NEV and battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales champion, commanding 35% of the pure electric market. In Singapore, BYD became the top passenger vehicle brand for the period.

Strategic Persistence Pays Off

This success follows years of strategic investment. In 2021, BYD's annual European sales barely exceeded 1,000 units. Throughout 2022-2023, monthly sales in key European markets often lingered in the hundreds — sometimes single digits — as the company navigated complex regulations. By enhancing product competitiveness and adapting to local emission and tax policies, BYD now regularly achieves 6,000 monthly sales across these markets, with 1,000-unit monthly sales in individual countries becoming routine.

Brazil exemplifies BYD's transformation — from just 260 sales in 2022 to 76,000 in 2024 (a 292-fold increase), driven by localized production. July 2024 marked the first vehicle rollout from its new Brazilian plant, now Latin America's largest EV manufacturing hub.
